THE RACE AGAINST TIME!!

Image
The race against time!! This poem is written by a dying woman partly to herself, partly to her husband and to her two kids… I look at the three of you and feel sad, Coz I know what I am losing, I can’t believe I am racing against time, It still can’t believe I am dying, Death is making me afraid, As what will happen, I wonder, To you and our lovely kids, Once I am not near, I want to see them grow, And for themselves carve a name, I want to see them reach the pinnacle, And attain prestige and fame, I want to hold my grandchildren, In my arms and play with them, And make them feel special, By constantly pampering them, I look at you, my beloved husband, And remember the promises we made, All the things we were supposed to do, All the plans we had laid, We were going to be together, forever, But god had different plans for us, Take care of yourself when I am gone, And please bid me farewell, without any fuss, I’ll miss you, my adorable kids, But remember I am always there for yo...

"THE" LOVE STORY!!

Image
“The” love story!! “The” symbolizes the uniqueness of the story. The narrator of this poem is a guy who knew the couple… Once upon a time, there was a couple, They were in love, since times immemorial, Big dreams the duo had, But other plans for them, fate had, They wanted to celebrate, Their fiftieth wedding anniversary, On a cruise, just like their first date, And things too, were going perfectly, Then came one moment that changed everything, It happened one fateful night, Unfortunately, there was a wind wailing, That stifled noises of their fight, I don’t know what they were fighting about, But I heard words like get out, Never see me again, and go to hell, That to the poor guy she did callously tell, He politely obliged and left, Never to see her again, Few days later, a note for her he left, That drowned her in a tsunami of pain, With her I read the note; it said, “My love, I am ill, critically, Soon I would be gone, dead, But may your life go on smoothly, I wanted t...

A MIGRATORY BIRD!!

Image
A migratory bird!!   I had feelings towards, Only one woman so far, But she was one of the migratory birds, Who disappeared into the limitless sky afar, I wanted to tell her a lot, I needed just one chance, She was the only one I sought, And I wanted to ask her out for the prom dance, Two days before the prom celebration, In school, I kept searching for her, I badly wanted to seek her attention, But I just couldn’t find her, The next morning I woke, And heard the news of a major, local, accident, Of it, even my neighbours spoke, But I didn’t bother, to school I went, I reached school; there was silence all around, I wondered, where are the others, I saw a few crowded on the ground, And there I saw, the torn and tattered body of hers, I began crying profusely, How can she die so young, I wanted to commit suicide really, As I heard her favourite song being sung, I realized, we are mere birds migratory, About the future no one can tell, My love is re...

IT FEELS SAD TO GO!!

Image
It feels sad to go!! ( I saw the movie "A walk to remember" in the morning...and that inspired me to write this poem...) It feels sad to go, I want to forever gaze into your eyes, But I don’t have a choice, God doesn’t want our love to grow,   I had said I’ll be with you, Unto my death, Till my last breath, I didn’t know the days would be so few, The five years we spent, They were truly wonderful, I remember every moment, And now they make me tearful, Watching me go, you are upset, And I know you are angry with fate, But honey, that’s how life is, Your joy shouldn’t ever cease, It feels sad to go, But life moves on, you have to try, Of all your sorrow, please let go, And promise me you’ll find some other guy, I want you to forget the pain, As quickly as you can, I know it’s difficult, I realize, But baby, you have no choice, It does feel sad to go, But I want you to know, I’ll be right here, Looking after you from above, forev...

IF I WERE TO DIE TOMORROW!!

Image
If I were to die tomorrow!! If I were to die tomorrow, Promise me there will be, No tears shed and no sorrow, When on the pyre you set me, At my grand funeral, No one should wear, White, a colour so dull, As about the customs I just don’t care, God was kind to me; I was lucky, There were a few disappointments, But if I were to die tomorrow, There would be no regrets, I have just two unfulfilled wishes, Listening to a song with my lyrics, And to see people wherever I look, Reading my poems, published in a book, A life without unfulfilled dreams, Is just not “life”, it seems, But I am happy to have lived so long, Collecting blissful memories all along, I thank you, my loving parents, For always shielding me from miscreants, I thank you, my gorgeous wife, For being the stolid rock in my life, I love you, my handsome son, May you achieve great heights, I thank my friends, for all the fun, That we had, amidst innumerous fights, I am grateful ...

HAPPY TO BE ALIVE!!

Image
Happy to be alive!! The first two stanzas of the poem describe the feelings of a man living in a war-torn nation. However, after a decade, the war has ended finally, and the man is relieved....and happy to be alive!!!  (the last stanza of the poem depicts this) I see countless, Daily dying in distress, Due to such ghastly wars, I see many cringed, Behind closed doors, In fear, shedding silent tears, I  ask God to lead, And say, keep me happy and alive,   I see men burned, I see women being raped, And children being orphaned, And souls being shattered, All this joy the world had, has faded, And amidst the dead, I pray to God with hands folded, And say, keep me happy and alive, Over the past decade, each day I would wake, With news of casualties and more cries, It gave me heartbreak, And the pain just couldn’t heal, Yet relieved is how, After the war, I feel now,  I thank god, with closed eyes, And emphatically say, I am h...

MY MOTHER'S LAP!!

Image
My mother’s lap!! My mind so often drifts, To all those wonderful times, When on my mother’s lap, Daily I had long naps, I peacefully slept in her arms, Smitten by her charm, She meant the world to me, And she created for me, a dream world to see, She recited a variety of tales, About august kings and their palaces, I would be so awed, I remember, And I’ll plead for a story another, But all I did was hurt her, By crying and grumbling forever, Whole night she then held me close, To prevent me from being morose, I was so mean to her, I was nothing but a weed, Yet she tolerated me, gave me shelter, Her lap was heaven, indeed, My mother’s love was unconditional, To her, I was truly special, Alas, I didn’t reciprocate, And throughout her life, I made her wait, Years passed by, I just drifted apart from her, She kept waiting for my love forever, And one day, in her sleep, she died, Now I wish I c...

FRIENDS TILL DEATH!!...AND EVEN, BEYOND!!

Image
Friends till death!!...and even, beyond!! [This poem describes true friendship until death plays spoilsport…the guy who is narrating this poem is dying and has been rather unfortunate in life, yet he has been a very happy-go-lucky sort of person. and now for the first time, he’s cursing his life…he has lost all his family members at a very tender age and now has just his friends to add colour to his life….VERY TOUCHING!!..thts how i can describe this poem!!] Life can be a bit cruel at times, People always said so, but I never cared. Life always gives you a hundred reasons to cry, But, in my case, just one is enough to make me weep. It’s high time I realize a fact, With Death, I’ve made a pact. No more than four days I am going to live, But, in return, to my dear friends, Hundred years He ought to give… It’s really unfortunate for me, that Life hasn’t given me another chance, To meet my lovely buddies, my companions, my friends, Friends who shared jokes while we ate, Friends who kept pu...
